HomeChildren's Classes

Many Taekwondo associations expect very young children to follow exactly the same syllabus as  teenagers and adults. We looked at the syllabus and broke it down for children aged 5 to 9 years and these children are taught in their own class.

Our ‘Snapping Turtles’ children's classes last for half an hour and focus on fun and fitness, syllabus work is included but not prioritised over their enjoyment of the class.

Gradings can be stressful for some people and we therefore decided that young children would benefit from a separate belt grading system, which leads them up to the regular Taekwondo system. The children have testing days at intervals, when they are ready and they have small sections of the traditional Taekwondo theory to learn at home, most of which they will hear in class on a regular basis.

Children aged 10 and over train in the second class and can train alongside their parents and other adults, these classes are 1 hour long and require a lot more concentration on the part of the children, theses classes follow the standard Taekwondo syllabus.

Teenagers are encouraged to join the third class with the senior grades where they will be challenged and work harder.
